Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, visionary Occupational Therapist who is motivated to inspire our individuals with autism and their families to succeed.  The Occupational Therapist will be primarily responsible for the occupational therapy evaluation and treatment of children ages 2-18 with Autism Spectrum Disorder including fine & gross motor coordination, sensory processing, sensory integration, self-care and daily living skills.
Consultation: The Occupational Therapist will also be responsible for providing consultation regarding occupational therapy programing for all center-based clients in collaboration with the BCBA’s and SLP’s.


  • Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered Occupational Therapist and licensed by the State of Michigan (OTR-L)
  • Demonstrates advances understanding of behavioral & sensory principles and instructional strategies for students with autism and other developmental disorders
  • Knowledge of evaluation for fine & gross motor movements, sensory processing, sensory integration, self-care, and daily living skills
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team
Physical Requirements:

  • Able to sit and stand frequently and shift positions quickly
  • Able to lift 50 pounds or more
  • Able to do the following for extended periods of time:
  • Sit/kneel on floor
  • Sit in a chair
  • Stand
  • Walk
  • Pass Safety Care QBS Crisis Management Training and safely apply all crisis management procedures when necessary.

Specific duties include:

  • Complete physical diagnostic assessments through standardized evaluation, clinical interviews, observation, and informal methods
  • Develop occupational therapy goals/objectives for each individual through person-center planning
  • Develop and implement therapeutic interventions to assist with deficits addressed within treatment plan
  • Make recommendations for assistive equipment
  • Complete written daily documentation accurately and timely.
  • Provide education to parents, caregivers, and other involved services
  • Schedule 30 hours of therapy time per week
  • Assist in marketing of the occupational therapy program – including attending conferences, creating flyers, and reaching out to local establishments to offer OT services

Consultation Duties & Responsibilities:

The OT will consult with BCBA’s, behavior technicians, and feeding technicians on behavior modification and occupational therapy programing for individual students, classroom, and for the entire Center-Based program. This consultation will be provided through:
  • Weekly meetings with Clinical Directors
  • Periodic observation of individual clients
  • Provides initial and ongoing trainings for all staff in the areas of occupational therapy
  • Collaborate and co-treat with SLP
 Advise on adaptive equipment to help clients with daily activities
